American Youth Ballet's dancers are comprised of 9-18 year old, Kansas City area students. Auditions for the company are held annually in May.

Special open auditions take place during the year for dancers of all ages from the community. These guest performers augment the bigger productions of AYB.

Company members train in a specially designed curriculum of ballet, pointe, pas de deux, modern, and jazz at the American Dance Center, the official training school of AYB.
